I purchased the picks to clean various caliber pistols and long guns. They're not the strongest material, but for the price ($4.80) they're a good bargain. They're easily strong enough to clean off any parts that have been pre-soaked. I think if you need anything stronger than this, you should clean your guns more often or just use more Hoppes/CLP.

Lyman has been around for a long time. These are great tools. Remember when you clean the parts of a semi auto you aren't stripping paint off a dresser. You are cleaning delicate parts of a gun. You soak parts that have heavy carbon on them and then lightly brush them. You are also careful with picks not to pull off parts that you don't want off. Like vary small springs. Therefore the picks should last a long time.

These aren't meant to be metal scrapers. They are non-scratching plastic that get into tiny spaces and remove build-up where patches, Q-tips, or bore-snakes can't go. They are flexible, and the pointed ones are very pointed for small spaces or intersecting surfaces.
